Clinical Research

Biochemical or pharmaceutical companies must conduct clinical research trials on any new medicine or device before it can be released for use as a medical treatment. These research studies are regulated by the FDA and follow strict legal and ethical codes to protects the interests and welfare of participants. ACRC is working with leading Pharmaceutical companies to participate in cutting edge research projects in Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus and Osteoporosis.

Ongoing Clinic Trials at Arthritis Care and Research Center:

Rheumatoid Arthritis( RA):

  • NDB Cimzia Study: If you are diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and receiving treatment with Cimzia please consider enrolling with the National Data Base where you will monitored carefully for response to Cimzia and for long term effects of this medication.
  • NDB Orencia RAdy Study: Rheumatoid Arthritis on Abatacept (Orencia) and or Methotrexate enrolled in this study will receive clinical monitoring with health questionnaires every 6 months sent to them by the National data base for Rheumatic diseases.
  • Sharp Health Study: Study Measuring Cardiovascular Outcomes in Rheumatoid Arthritis patients older than 50 years with cardiac risk factors. Patients will be randomized to receive study drug Tocilizumab (TCZ) by Merck. These RA patients will be switched to TCZ after failing Abatacept (Orencia).

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus ( LUPUS) Study:

  • Illuminate- I/II Lupus Study: Double blind randomized controlled trial for patients with a diagnosis of LUPUS. The study drug is a biologic membrane bound and soluble BAFF receptor inhibitor. Patient once enrolled will receive monitoring and study related treatment for up to 12 months.
